Guidance for students
The University does not accept anonymous or deliberately harmful reports of academic misconduct. However, you can report concerns confidentially.
This means you share your name with the Director of Studies, but they won’t share it with anyone else unless you agree.
Please note: keeping your identity confidential may limit what action the University can take.
The Director of Studies will consider your report and will look at the student’s work. They will consider if they have found independent evidence of academic misconduct. If they find signs of academic misconduct but cannot progress an investigation without disclosing your details, they will ask your permission.
Your name will only be shared without your consent in very specific situations:
- if there is a student safeguarding concern
- if your report suggests the student has paid someone else to do their work (a form of contract cheating) - in this case, the Director of Studies must consult Academic Registry
