Getting started with SharePoint

Discover how to access help and support to begin your SharePoint journey.

What is SharePoint

SharePoint is a tool that helps teams work together and manage documents more easily. It allows you to create websites, share information and collaborate with others, making it easier to get things done and stay connected.

With SharePoint, you can improve teamwork and simplify your work processes:

  • Store and organise documents in a secure, centralised location
  • Collaborate with your team in real-time on projects and tasks
  • Create team sites to help share and organise resources
  • Automate tasks to save time and improve efficiency

SharePoint Support

We offer several resources to help you develop your SharePoint skills and get the most out of the platform.

LinkedIn Learning

The University provides access to the online learning platform, LinkedIn Learning, where you'll find a range of video tutorials on SharePoint to help you develop your skills. To get started, visit the library’s LinkedIn Learning page.

Once you're comfortable with the basics, join our SharePoint Community of Practice on Microsoft Teams. It's a space to share ideas, ask questions and collaborate on everything SharePoint. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, your insights and questions are valuable to us as we grow the platform.

Introduce yourself, share your experiences and ask questions. Together, we can enhance our SharePoint skills and knowledge in a supportive, collaborative environment.

To join the community:

  1. Open Microsoft Teams.
  2. Click the Teams icon on the left-hand side of the window.
  3. Select 'Join or create a team'.
  4. Choose 'Join team' from the dropdown list.
