MASH workshops for year 1 mathematics

Find out the available support offered to year 1 maths students by the Mathematics Resources Centre (MASH).

Come to MASH workshops

We run 6 hours of workshops per week during teaching weeks specifically for students taking any of the following year 1 mathematics units:

  • MA10207 - Analysis 1
  • MA10209 - Algebra 1A
  • MA10210 - Algebra 1B
  • MA10211 - Probability & statistics 1A
  • MA10212 - Probability & statistics 1B
  • MA10230 - Multivariable calculus and differential equations
  • MA10236 - Vectors, vector calculus and mechanics
  • MA10276 - Programming, foundations and connections

You can ask any maths question about these units without fear. Drop in, meet other students, work on problem sheets and know help is there if needed. Maths can often seem quite different at university and these workshops will help you to learn to study independently. Workshops are led by more experienced maths students, who can:

  • help you find, understand and use information in lecture notes
  • help you get started or make progress on problem sheets
  • help you to think about how to approach your studies
  • share their experience of studying mathematics

Get help with Python

We run a Python Drop-in once a week to help you. You can ask any Python question without fear. The drop-in is in a computer lab so you don't need to bring a laptop. The drop-in is led by experienced Python users. They can:

  • help you find, understand and use information in lecture notes
  • help you get started or make progress on Python exercises
  • help you to think about how to debug your code
