What to do
Select the option that reflects your scenario:
- Cannot sign in? Go to Reset your password - scenario 1
- Can sign in? Go to Change your password - scenario 2
Reset your University password
Scenario 1: You can't sign in
Use this option if you’ve forgotten your password or are locked out of your account.
Current staff or students
- If you've set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), you can quickly reset your password online yourself
- If you haven't set up MFA or cannot reset your password yourself, you can [ask the IT Service Desk to reset your password(https://www.bath.ac.uk/bucs/help/contact/index.html).
After a successful reset, you may be prompted to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) if you haven't done so already.
Applicants
- Reset your password using the account reset tool
- If this doesn't work, submit a password reset form
Change your password
Scenario 2: You can sign in
Use this option if you know your password but want to change it.
- Sign in to My Account.
- Select 'Change Password'.
- Follow the prompts to set a new password.

Set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Adding a second authentication method adds an extra layer of security to your account. You may be prompted to do this after resetting or changing your password.
You can use:
- Authenticator app (recommended) – how to set it up
- Phone call
- Text message
- Alternative email
- Security questions
