Privacy Policy for alumni, donors and friends

Our Privacy Policy sets out how the Advancement Office stores and uses your information.


Data Protection

All personal information is held securely by the University of Bath and will be treated confidentially in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018. Our Privacy Notice explains the purposes for which we hold your data and how your information is processed. We encourage you to read the Privacy Notice in full.

Bath Connection

´╗┐Bath Connection, our e-networking platform for alumni and students is hosted by an external provider of online services. If you sign up for Bath Connection we will need to share your personal data with the external service provider as strictly necessary for the operation of the system. They have undertaken to comply with all necessary data protection legislation and measures. ´╗┐

Throughout our web pages, we provide links to other servers which may contain information of interest to our readers. We take no responsibility for, and exercise no control over, the organisations, views or accuracy of the information contained on other servers.

Creating a text link from your website to our site does not require permission. If you have a link you would like us to consider adding to our website, please email us.

Use of text and images

If you would like to publish information that you find on our website, please get in touch. Where text or images are posted on our site with the permission of the original copyright holder, a copyright statement appears at the bottom of the page.


This website is designed to be accessible to visitors with disabilities, and to comply with the relevant guidelines concerning accessibility. We welcome your comments and suggestions on how to make the site more accessible.

Opt-out or change your contact information

Our site provides users the opportunity to opt out of receiving communications through logging into Bath Alumni Online or by completing the updates and requests form. You may choose to receive only specific communications or none at all. You may also update your contact information previously provided to us through another online form. You cannot remove yourself from our database, but you can prevent unwanted communication.

BA2 and e-newsletters

BA2 magazine and e-newsletters are sent to alumni and friends for whom we have up-to-date contact details. You can update your details by logging into Bath Alumni Online or by completing the updates and requests form.


BathMail usernames and passwords are different to Bath Alumni Online usernames and passwords. We do not store passwords for users of BathMail after it has been changed from the initial activation password provided to the user. The Advancement Office will only reset a user's password if this has been requested by the user and the user's identity has been verified. The Advancement Office have access to usage data to enable us to administer this service and we reserve the right to remove user accounts where misuse is reported. See our Privacy Notice


Cookies are a technology which can be used to provide you with tailored information from a website; they can facilitate communication and interaction with the site. The alumni site collects HTTP cookies which are used for research and development and to track visitors to our site.
