Lizzie Hope-Dyer Head of Research Funding

Responsible for overseeing support for research funding applications and awards, and for making sure they meet funder and University requirements.

Role

The main purpose of Lizzie's role is to provide strategic leadership for the delivery of research applications and awards across a range of funders. This helps grow the University’s Research and Innovation portfolio in line with strategic aims.

Lizzie is responsible for:

  • all Pre-Award functions (proposals and awards)
  • all Post-Award functions (award management including European funding)
  • the Proposal to Award Management (PAM) system
  • management of the team leads for Pre-Award, Post-Award, European Funding and Due Diligence and Compliance

Lizzie is currently serving a three-year term on the Association for Research Managers and Administrators (ARMA) Finance and Governance Committee.

Career

Lizzie was appointed Head of Research Funding in 2024. Having previously been Head of Pre-Award, her remit now covers responsibility for both the Pre- and Post-Award teams in Research and Innovation Services (RIS). Lizzie has worked at the University since 2006, originally working in the Finance Department as well as the Science Faculty. Lizzie joined RIS in 2011, working in the Post-Award team for a year before moving to the Pre-Award team. She was Pre-Award Manager from 2016 until moving to Head of Pre-Award in 2019.

Education

Lizzie has a Level 5 Diploma from the Institute for Leadership and Management (ILM5) and the Level 4 qualification from the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT). She also has a degree in Psychology from the University of Gloucestershire.
