sigma Network project

The Mathematics Resources Centre has ongoing involvement with the sigma Network for excellence in mathematics and statistics support.

The Mathematics Resource Centre (MASH) is actively involved with sigma Network for excellence in mathematics and statistics support. Between 2008 and 2016 MASH held funding to:

  • run the sigma South West & South Wales hub
  • produce a variety of resources for mathematics and statistics support

The sigma Network is now established as a professional association managed by an elected steering group. MASH continues to be actively involved in the leadership of the new professional association.

sigma Hubs

sigma South West & South Wales was the first regional hub to be supported through the sigma Network. It was established in 2008 and following the successful pilot, in 2010 a national network of 6 regional hubs was established. Regional hubs provided more local access to sigma events and workshops. They allowed local interests and concerns to be supported whilst developing at a national level.

The sigma hubs ran until 2016 and the archived South West & South Wales hub pages have been preserved.

During this phase MASH also held funds to produce:

The sigma Network is now established as a professional association managed by an elected steering group. MASH is represented on the national steering group by Emma Cliffe (Vice-chair: Technical) and Ed Southwood (Membership Secretary). MASH also holds the current funding for:
