This standard describes the University's arrangements to identify and manage risks (health, safety and legislative risks) arising from handling, storage, processing and disposal of hazardous waste. It describes the roles and responsibilities of all involved in managing producing or working with hazardous waste.

We have produced a Code of Practice that set out how waste should be managed in practice. There are two supporting checklists to also aide correct management of the two different waste streams:

• Chemical Waste

• Biological Waste

The standard was reviewed and agreed at UHSC June 2023. The next scheduled review for these documents is June 2026.
