Work Equipment Safety

The University's arrangements for complying with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998.

This safety standard sets out the University's arrangements for the safe use of work equipment. it covers all work equipment provided by the university for use by any one at work. this includes University employees, Post Graduate Research students, volunteer and casual workers. it also covers any university equipment provided for use by third parties, such as contractors. the standard covers all aspects of the work equipment life cycle, from specification, procurement, installation and commissioning, use, maintenance and decommissioning.

This Standard was agreed at University Health and Safety Committee in March 2023 and next due for review in March 2026.
