Project Manager

Do you have work experience in leading the planning and implementation of projects whilst ensuring safety and project management processes are followed? If so, we have an opportunity for you to make an impact on our department of Campus Infrastructure.

We are looking for a new Project Manager to manage projects up to £1 million relating to alterations and refurbishments on the University’s estate. This role is linked to the delivery of the Condition Survey and Long-Term Maintenance plan that is funded at £10m per year for 10 years.

You will work closely with colleagues in the Department of Campus Infrastructure as well as construction and engineering professionals, and will be responsible for procuring, contracting and delivering services either through in-house labour or through external contractors.

Mechanical Services Engineer

We will shortly be looking to recruit a Mechanical Services Engineer to assist the Head of Engineering Services to ensure that mechanical services, plant and equipment are both operated and maintained safely, efficiently, reliably and in compliance with legislation.

This is an exceptional opportunity for you to use your skills and knowledge of mechanical services plant to evaluate, analyse, and diagnose system faults and failures to affect a rapid return to service, that safeguards business continuity. You'll also have responsibility for responding effectively to failures in mechanical services.

Together we aim to help the University achieve its mission of delivering world-class research and teaching, by striving to maintain, refresh and expand the University of Bath Campus in a world class fashion.

What we do


Campus Infrastructure delivers major capital, long term maintenance and space reconfiguration projects across the university estate to ensure continued student and staff satisfaction.

We also manage the repair, maintenance and installation of university facilities in academic and residential buildings including:

  • Helpdesk & workshops for mechanical, electrical and Carpentry
  • Mechanical networks for water, gas, heating, air conditioning and specialist extract systems
  • Electrical High Voltage and low voltage systems - Power & Lighting
  • Building management & control systems
  • Fire safety systems including alarms, dampers and fire stopping
  • Passenger and goods lifts
  • Automated doors and security systems
  • Asbestos management
  • Compliance of Emergency lighting & water hygiene to statutory requirements
  • Energy Management, Carbon reduction and setting the agenda for sustainability

Budgets


Over the next five years, The university is seeking to enhance it's global position within the top world-leading institutions.

Delivery of our university strategy will see significant investment of the next 15 years with an anticipated £1.3b spend to meet its objectives. Campus Infrastructure play a significant role in those plans and supports the delivery of our strategy and long term maintenance plan, not to mention the ongoing planned and reactive maintenance.

It's anticipated that we will be delivering in excess £50m of campus infrastructure projects, annually and this scale of delivery, on what is a compact and complex campus, requires significant planning and management.
