We are delighted to announce the winners of the National Student Survey (NSS), Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES), Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES), Professional Doctorate Experience Survey (PDES), PGT Dissertation Survey and Unit Evaluation prize draws for 2023. Read why they participated in their survey.

NSS

  • Health student - 1 x Champagne Afternoon Tea in the Pump Rooms for four

  • Mathematical Sciences student - 1 x Twilight Package at the Thermae Bath Spa for two

  • Tom Llewelyn (Economics) - 1 x Graduation Gown Hire package

I took part in the National Student Survey as I wanted to reflect on my time at university. I wanted to provide feedback by highlighting areas I thought worked well and things that could have been done differently to hopefully improve the experience for future students.

  • Politics, Languages & International Studies student - 1 x set of Graduation Photos

PTES

  • Rahab Al Maqrashi (Education) - 1 x £250 cash

I participated in the PTES because, as a social science student (and researcher), I strongly believe in the significance of assessment and its role in evaluating organizational performance. Engaging in PTES allowed me to share my genuine perspectives on my learning experiences. By sharing my honest views, I aimed to contribute valuable perspectives that could aid prospective students in making informed decisions about their educational journey. I viewed this participation as a responsibility—a reciprocal exchange wherein we expect participants in our research endeavours to willingly offer truthful responses, and in turn, we should reciprocate by providing our own candid feedback to help shape the future of learning and teaching at our university.

PRES

  • Martin Edelmann (Pharmacy and Pharmacology) - 1 x £250 cash

In today's world, giving and receiving feedback is more important than ever. I am delighted that the students at the University of Bath are given the opportunity to express their opinions. Based on my experiences from previous surveys, I could see that the University takes feedback seriously and transforms it into action. Therefore, I want to encourage all students to participate in surveys and speak up. By giving and receiving feedback, you can learn, grow and develop not only in academia but also in the industry.

PDES

  • Vanessa Mcconville (Education) - 1 x £250 cash

As an educator and research student I really appreciate the importance of review and reflection and the necessity of honest feedback. I was keen to respond to the PDES survey because it will help the Bath team to continue to develop their great provision and hopefully benefit future Professional Doctorate students. To win the cash prize was an unexpected extra benefit. Thank you!

PGT Dissertation Survey

  • Melanie Mahovsky (Psychology) - 1 x £50 Amazon voucher

Writing your dissertation is often one of the most stressful periods in an academic career. While you have the freedom to manage your own time, numerous hurdles still need to be overcome. Thus, it is crucial that, as students, we receive the necessary support from the university in an effective manner. Participating in this survey ensures that the university can uphold its high-quality standards in both the supervision and preparation processes.

Unit Evaluations

  • Wesley Chong (Management) - 1 x £100 cash

The reason why I will be replying to more than one OUE is not only because I want teachers who put effort into their lessons to be rewarded, but also to further improve the quality of education for future students.

  • Alexandre Benoit (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) - 1 x £100 cash

I entered the OUE because I think it is essential for a student to share the pros and cons of unit. I think it is important for a lecturer and the department to have the student point of view as they don't always realise what they are doing wrong or great.

  • Imara Wright (Politics, Languages & International Studies) - 1 x £100 cash

I chose to do the Online Unit Evaluation survey because it is important that students have a say in how the courses they are doing are shaped. Whilst our lecturers are all incredibly intelligent, not everyone learns in the same way, and every individual student’s perspective should be heard in order to shape a learning experience that works effectively for everyone.

  • Josh Mobsby (Mechanical Engineering) - 1 x £100 cash

I participated in Online Unit Evaluations as I feel it’s important to voice your opinion on the quality of each module. I think we are lucky to study at a university that actually does value student feedback and should use the opportunity to potentially improve future learning experiences at Bath as well as let many of the lecturers know that their work in delivering effective teaching to a module is much appreciated.

  • Benjamin Walsh (Mechanical Engineering) - 1 x £100 cash

I decided to take part in the OUEs to encourage improvements in certain aspects of my units whilst also giving praise to lecturers that really benefitted my learning. I believe it is important for students to use their voices so that the course can be better for everyone!
