Career Development Dashboard

Supporting Deans and Academic Heads of Department navigate the new reporting tool and supporting career conversations for the Education and Research job family.

The purpose of the Career Development Dashboard (CDD) is to assist Deans and Academic Heads of Department in supporting the career progression for staff in the Education & Research Job Family. The reporting tool combines existing data at a Faculty, Departmental and person level and provides an overview of career progression history and aspects of research activity.

Introduction and purpose of the tool

This video briefly describes how to navigate the home page of the reporting tool.

The reporting tool is designed to be used in conjunction with other career development processes including regular one-to-ones, career conversations or annual Staff Development and Performance Reviews (SDPR).

Your staff list

The video provides an overview of how to navigate the full list of staff for your Faculty or Department.

The Staff list tab provides a useful summary of the profile of your staff, including name, position, time in role and FTE.

Person level data

This video provides an overview of how to navigate the person-level data of your Faculty or Department.

The Person tab provides the data on role, promotion history, and research activity for each member of staff in the department. This can be filtered by financial or publication year, over a period of time.

Contextual data

This video provides an overview of how to navigate the contextual data for your Faculty or Department. The final tab on the report is the glossary page which includes the definitions and sources of various data.

The Contextual tab is designed to help you understand the contextual data for any individuals in your department as part of career progression conversations. This tab provides the averages of various research metrics at a Faculty or Department level and will provide insight into the career stage and future development goals of the person, in relation to the averages of their cohort.

People data provides a summary of the profile of your staff, such as average length of service at the University and in the role. This can be filtered by grouped position.

Research data only contains data for staff on Research and Education contracts, therefore excluding staff in the E&R Job Family with a teaching focus and no research activity. The averages will therefore not be impacted. The data provides averages across three research metrics: applications, awards and publications.
