Chemical engineering applicant visit days

We run open days for our undergraduate degree offer holders on a regular basis between February and March. Find out why you should attend one.

Our applicant visit days are a great opportunity to talk with our student ambassadors about what studying chemical engineering at Bath is really like.

After you receive an offer to study one of our undergraduate courses, we will invite you to one of our applicant visit days. We usually run these on Thursdays between February and March. You'll be able to choose which date you want to attend but it's best to book early as they can fill up fast. We'll give you information about travelling here, campus accessibility, and where to go when you arrive in your invitation email.

Gain better insight into your course

Your day starts with a welcome from our Head of Department before an introductory talk by the admissions tutor. They will tell you more about what chemical engineering actually is, the types of jobs that graduates get and what you could achieve in your career with a degree from Bath. They will also take you through starting at Bath, how the course is structured and assessed, the topics you will study, and other opportunities available to you including our placements scheme and the chance to do research in the department.

We'll give you a tour of the department that gives you access to the laboratories and learning spaces you'll use during your degree. You'll visit our teaching labs, a research lab and one of our computer suites. We'll round off the day with a panel discussion with our undergraduate students, placement team staff, and academic staff. They'll be ready to answer any questions you have about our courses, university and city. You'll also get a more informal chance to talk with students and staff over lunch and on the campus tour.

Get a feel for campus and city life

Our students will take you on a tour of the campus during your visit. It's a great chance to see what the campus is like on a typical day and experience the atmosphere of students and staff going about their business.

Campus life isn't just about studying and there are many ways that you can make the most of your university experience. As a taster, we'll take you round our Sports Training Village (STV), where you'll have access to the same facilities used by Olympic athletes. You'll see our Students' Union, which houses the Student Centre, food outlets and the campus pub and night club. We will also show you The Edge, our arts centre where you can take dance, art and music classes.

The city of Bath is only 10 minutes away by bus so we advise our guests to take the opportunity to visit the city after their day with us has finished.
