This unit will enable learners to critically evaluate the role of the lead professional and the meaning of effective practice in a rapidly changing sector including the implications of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of this unit the learner will be able to:
* Identify and critically analyse the factors that inform the notions of best practice when working with young children.
* Develop and interpret curricula to promote best practice
* Apply leadership theory to own practice in order to develop skills to lead and support others in effective professional practice
* Critically analyse your own and other people's professional values and boundaries within multi-agency working and the impact of this on effective information sharing
* Critically evaluate the implementation of the concept of the child's voice within your practice.

Content:
Students will analyse the contexts of curricula delivery and how to provide suitable pedagogical approaches and philosophies to best suit all within the setting.
The major theoretical models of leadership will be discussed to identify how these can be applied in practice to support models of effective and reflective practice and team working.
Models of effective practice will be explored to support own practice and development.
Identify and recognise the professional values of stakeholders involved in early years practice. Key concepts of multiagency working will be analysed to examine the importance and implications for effective practice.
Students will critically evaluate the child's voice by reflecting upon the impact of current legislation and its place within practice identifying how children's rights are upheld and the empowerment of children to be involved in their own development.
