Synopsis: | Develop your knowledge and understanding of the history and theory of structures, construction and structural engineering in conservation practice. These will include assessment and diagnosis of structural failure and repair, challenges & techniques. |
Learning Outcomes: | Critical awareness and the ability to identify and assess the historical and architectural significance and character of historic structures and cultural heritage.
Ability to identify failure and defects in the fabric of the building, diagnose their causes, and recommend appropriate remedial works. Identify and diagnose intrinsic and extrinsic causes and formulate a basis for appropriate responses or action and present findings to a standard consistent with professional requirements. Prioritise sustainable solutions in a conservation context and critically evaluate arguments, policies, assumptions and data to achieve or identify a range of solutions to problems. |
