27263-0027Our Graduate School offers a diverse range of postgraduate programmes to students intending to study at the University of Bath.

We have more than 1,600 students currently studying as part of the Graduate School.

We are also part of the South West Doctoral Training Centre, one of the UK’s largest units of postgraduate research training for social sciences that has been established in collaboration with the Universities of Bristol and Exeter.

Research Skills Training

We provide a programme of research skills training for all our students undertaking an MPhil or PhD. Training sessions include such topics as:

  • data management
  • presentation skills
  • social media
  • time management for researchers
  • writing for publication

There are also research training sessions offered that tackle our faculty specific topics. Students may enrol on these programmes throughout the year.

Graduate Centre

The Graduate Centre in 4 West is available just for postgraduate students.

 

Our postgraduate students are eligible to use the Graduate Centre located in 4 West.

Graduate Centre features:

  • social and informal work areas with soft seating, computers, WiFi, data connection points and a number of electrical sockets for laptops.
  • kitchen area which includes a microwave, fridge, water cooler, and storage space.
  • training and seminar room.
  • offices for the Researcher Careers Advisor and the Postgraduate Skills Training Team.

Graduate School lecture series

Our ‘ways of thinking’ lecture series provides students with an insight into key issues within each of the academic disciplines. The lectures are delivered by a range of high profile speakers and take place throughout the year. Due to their popular nature, students must book to attend.

There are also regular departmental seminars that include both internal and external speakers.

Support

Our Graduate School office is available for students during normal University opening hours. We are able to assist with any general enquiries and provide advice regarding funding opportunities.
