Key responsibilities
- operational management of the Institutional VLE with the aim of delivering a high quality professional service that meets the needs of users. Project management of Moodle-related work packages
- liaising with colleagues from the LTEO, Computing Services, Web Services, Library and academic departments to ensure an integrated approach to the University's e-learning tools
- identifying and evaluating e-tools, new approaches to e-learning and emerging notions of embedding e-learning in the academic context
- supporting the pedagogical and operational embedding of e-learning across the institution
Professional background
- initially worked as a teacher and later as senior IT trainer in a large commercial organisation
- joined the University as a Learning Technologist early in 2001 following the creation of the e-Learning Team (originally known as the Centre for the Development of New Technologies in Learning)
- worked as Acting Head of e-Learning for 3 years, leading the institutional VLE migration from Blackboard to Moodle
