Key responsibilities
- leadership and management of all the activities of the English Language Centre including Pre-sessional Programme, In-sessional Programme, Academic & Professional Communication Skills Programme, Teacher Training Programme, IELTS, UBELT and Academic writing support
- oversight of the management of the Self Access Language Centre
Professional background
- started career teaching English at Camden School for Girls, London
- have taught English, Linguistics and English Language Teaching Methodology in colleges and universities in Tanzania, China (Nanjing University), London and Reading
- joined the University of Bath to teach Linguistics in 1987
- set up the English Language Unit at Bath in 1988 and became Director of the English Language Centre in 2009
- active member of BALEAP (ex Chair; member of Accreditation Scheme Committee; recently on working party developing descriptions of the competencies required of a Teacher of English for Academic Purposes)
