Key responsibilities
- steering the evaluation and development of online learning activities and the effective use of the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) by programmes in the Faculty of Engineering Distance Learning unit
- fostering collaborative development among the distance learning tutoring staff on projects such as enhancing feedback and assessment
- collating student feedback and corresponding with key stakeholders to ensure student feedback and input from tutors contributes to ongoing programme developments
- supporting distance learning tutors in using the VLE to facilitate online learning activities and assessment
- supporting and training staff in implementing effective administrative and communication systems to facilitate distance learning provision through the VLE
- supporting students to ensure access to the VLE and familiarity with new technologies
Professional background
- joined the Faculty of Engineering’s Distance Learning unit in May 2007 and closely involved in supporting the transition from a self-paced paper-based mode of delivery to blended learning for an M-level programme
- previous employment in the commercial sector: providing support and training for use of specialist software systems, and supporting government funded teacher training projects
