Our Department provides flexible and accessible courses which can complement your existing work commitments.

Courses are available in a variety of delivery formats and styles:

Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Development

This postgraduate certificate is aimed at professionals who work in the area of poverty reduction, justice and international development. It is delivered entirely via distance-learning using e-technologies (with the option of one-week residential course in Bath) and includes a mixture of e-lectures, readings and interactive seminars.

The programme runs over a period of two years and participants study on a part-time basis (approximately 5 hours per week) enabling them to fit their study around work commitments.

You are able to tailor the programme to meet your professional development requirements. You will:

  • Study two compulsory units (totalling 12 credits).
  • Select from a range of optional units (totalling 18 credits).

Entry requirements

To join the programme, applicants must possess:

  • A relevant university degree and/or relevant professional experience.
  • An advanced level of English (listening, reading and writing skills).
  • A good internet connection and webcam.
