This unit is for:
- International development, local government and community work professionals.
- Those who wish to reflect on wellbeing and how it can be integrated within social and development programmes and research.
The unit involves:
- One-week residential training at Bath
- Training in wellbeing assessment for project and programme design, monitoring and evaluation; and research
- Interactive teaching sessions leading into learning by doing: small group project in wellbeing assessment.
- 3,000 word report due one month after course ends (if taken for credit)
Unit content
- Links with other approaches in public policy and development practice
- Understanding and modelling wellbeing
- Wellbeing politics and project applications
- Interviewing skills
- Grounding and piloting wellbeing assessment for use in specific contexts
- Generating qualitative and quantitative data on wellbeing
- Analysing, reporting and presenting the evidence
Qualifications
The unit carries 6 credits and can build towards a University of Bath degree qualification:
- Postgraduate Certificate (30 credits)
- Diploma (60 credits)
- MSc (90 credits)
