Members of our community will no doubt have seen the shocking images from Lebanon following a blast which has claimed lives and injured thousands of people. This devastating event has occurred during a global pandemic and at a time when emergency services and health workers are already stretched. Our thoughts as a University community are with all those affected and particularly those who have lost loved ones or who know those who have been injured by the blast.

Foreign and Commonwealth Office advice to anyone in the UK who is worried about a British national in Beirut, is to call the FCO in London on 020 7008 1500.

We are not currently aware of anyone from our University community who has been directly affected, but support is available at the University if you have been affected by these events.

In addition to your line manager and HR contacts, we have an Employee Assistance Programme which offers additional support to those who may need it.

Support is also available for any students who have been affected through our Student Services or by email studentservices@bath.ac.uk. If you are concerned about a student who may have been affected, please call 01225 38 4321.

Both staff and students can also contact the chaplaincy.
