We are pleased to announce that two Institute for Policy Research (IPR) staff have received Climate Action badges, awarded at an event hosted by the University of Bath Climate Action Team. The event celebrated both staff and students who are at the forefront of taking climate action at the University.

Amy Thompson, IPR Head of Policy Programmes and Communications, received a badge for her work on the ActNowFilm project, which she co-directs. Previous films in the project have been featured at COP26, 27 and 28, and this year's film will be shared again at COP29. Amy led a delegation to COP28 in December 2023, which has opened opportunities for wider University engagement in future years, and was invited by UNFCCC Youth4Capacity to present a youth workshop at the Bonn Climate Conference in June 2024. Amy also leads the work of the pilot Bath Policy Engagement Academy and the IPR Policy Fellowship Programme, which this year saw a record number of senior policymakers visit Bath, the greatest proportion attending on the Net Zero Policy Fellowship stream.

Former IPR intern Thea Wright, who studies Politics and International Relations at the University, received a badge in recognition of contributions made during her internship. This included her work on the development of the the Bath Policy Engagement Academy and the IPR Policy Fellowship Programme, and for her ongoing work on ActNowFilm: Youth Climate Leaders as Agents of Change, coordinating global youth participation and preparing for COP29.
