Our 60th anniversary was a chance to honour our past, celebrate who we are today, and look ahead to our future. Current and former colleagues, alongside members of Council, came together in the Claverton Rooms on Wednesday 21 October to mark the occasion.
A true celebration
From the moment they arrived, colleagues were taken on a journey through the University’s last six decades, with archive photos lining the entrance to the Claverton Rooms. Inside the scene was set by bunting, lighting from Backstage Technical Services, and stands showcasing our new strategy and global voice, with time to grab a drink and catch up before the event began.
Corinne Evans, Executive Director (External Relations), welcomed everyone with an introduction, our 60th Anniversary video, before Professor Phil Taylor, Vice-Chancellor, reflected on 60 years, thanking and raising a glass to those who had put us in this strong position and to everyone who will take us forward.
Professor Marcus Munafò, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, then took to the stage to officially launch our new Strategy 2036, our ten-year framework for success, and our new visual identity
Our new video premiered at the event, We Make Futures, reflecting our distinctive strengths and marking a bold new chapter for our university.
Entertainment was in full swing throughout the event
Bath Indian Dance Society took the floor by storm with a set prepared for the national inter-university dance competition, while Bath Jazz Society brought music and atmosphere to the celebrations. Guests enjoyed global street food developed with our student societies and No Plates Like Home, served by Campus Services’ Hospitality team in their newly branded uniforms.
