Kristian Williams, a former Policy Engagement Intern with the Institute for Policy Research (IPR), will be joining the 2025 cohort for the Civil Service Fast Stream in Government Policy.

During the three-year programme, he will work at the heart of the Civil Service, designing, developing and proposing appropriate courses of action to help meet key government priorities, ministerial objectives, and positively impact citizens' lives.

He will work across a range of departments and roles, experiencing different elements of policy development and delivery, developing technical policy skills and establishing networks within and outside of government.

On his appointment, Kristian said: "Serving the public through working within the UK Civil Service – designing and implementing policy that will hopefully have a positive impact on the lives of many – has been my lodestar throughout my professional and academic development. I have always sought a rewarding career in service to the wider society. I am excited to begin the Fast Stream leadership programme, and I look forward to developing my skills further to help enable the successful implementation of the government’s policy objectives."

Amy Thompson, Head of Policy Programmes and Communications at the IPR, said: "Congratulations to Kristian on his well-earned appointment to the highly competitive Civil Service Fast Stream! His dedication, talent, and focus will undoubtedly make him a valuable addition to the programme and an exceptional civil servant in the years ahead. It was a pleasure to have him as the inaugural IPR Policy Engagement Intern – an experience that enriched not only his journey but also that of the IPR and myself. I wish him every success and look forward to seeing his career flourish."
