Khalil worked for the University for many years, joining as a Teaching Fellow in 2016. In addition to teaching students, staff and members of the public, Khalil established a virtual exchange programme with Jordan, creating meaningful opportunities for cultural and linguistic engagement that benefited many students over the years.
Claire Charlemagne, Head of Languages, said:
Khalil was a valued and highly respected language teacher in our Skills Centre, where he dedicated 12 years of service to the University. Throughout his time with us, he built strong and lasting relationships with colleagues, students and the wider University community. A passionate advocate for student societies, Khalil generously gave his time, encouragement, and support to enrich the student experience.
Khalil was an exceptionally kind and compassionate colleague, an inspiring educator, and a trusted friend. His warmth, generosity, and commitment to others touched the lives of many, and he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.
We know that Khalil's death will affect colleagues, friends, and the wider University community, and a range of support is available.
