If you have a University-owned mobile phone that you use in your employment, we have now added those phone numbers to our database for SMS messages sent via SafeZone in an emergency.
Opt-in for emergency alerts on your own phone
If you also have a personal mobile phone, please check that your phone number is saved in your iTrent HR account in the correct format:
[+][country code][your number without the initial 0, and no spaces]
This number will only be used in an emergency, and you don't need the SafeZone app.
Join SafeZone User Groups for travel alerts and adverse weather warnings
You can also opt in for receive information from our Security team about non-emergency incidents, such as disruption to local travel, changes to University car parks, and adverse weather warnings. Each type of alert has its own User Group, so you can join whichever are relevant to you.
Find out how to join the non-emergency User Groups.
The SafeZone app
All our emergency and non-emergency alerts can be received by both SMS and by push notification (PN). If you’d like push notifications, please check your phone settings to allow SafeZone to notify you. Some mobiles will put SafeZone into ‘sleep’ mode and block notifications if you don’t open the app regularly.
