Description: Aims:
To give each student the experience of a real aerospace design situation as part of a group.
This unit builds on the evaluation stage, leading to a detailed design that takes into account both engineering and business aspects.
To present these results in written and oral form and to practising engineers at an exhibition.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this unit the student will be able to:
* Plan and manage the technical process that is engineering design, applying concepts from a range of areas [EL3m, SM6m, P1, P9m, P10m].
* Demonstrate a detailed knowledge and understanding of the commercial aspects of engineering, and develop and evaluate a business plan [D5].
* Work in a multi-disciplinary team and manage their role [P1m, G1, G2].
* Generate an innovative and sustainable design for products, systems, components or processes to fulfil new needs [D8m, EL4].
* Identify quality issues and their application to continuous improvement [P7].

Working in a team; problem solving; numeracy; written communication; oral communication; IT; leadership.
