Requisites:
Aims: The aim of this unit is to examine the historical emergence and present-day form and significance of Physical Education (PE) policies, both in the UK and beyond, and to examine societal forces impacting on PE policy and practice.

Learning Outcomes: 1. Analyse advanced issues and topics pertaining to Physical Education policy and society, such as public pedagogy, equality and inclusivity, and technology in Physical Education
2. Analyse and apply relevant social sciences theories and concepts in examining social and policy dimensions of teaching and learning in Physical Education
3. Analyse and apply ideas from reputable academic (e.g., scholarly journals) and non-academic (e.g., government policies) sources in examining Physical Education in UK and global contexts
4. Articulate advanced issues, theories, principles, and perspectives relevant to Physical Education Policy and Society research projects to intended audiences, such as academics, educators and students, using appropriate technologies
5. Strengthen, refine, and discuss informed opinions on Physical Education policy and society.

Take initiative in identifying problems and formulating solutions.
Effectively utilise contemporary information and communication technologies (ICTs).

Content: UK Physical Education policy; the Physical Education landscape (e.g., state, corporate, and non-governmental actors); international perspectives on Physical Education policy and practice; identity, equality, and inclusivity in Physical Education; physical activity promotion; reflexivity in Physical Education practice; pedagogy and technology; formal vs. informal learning; public pedagogy.
