Requisites:
Aims: The aim of this unit is to analyse the sport media landscape, including its historical emergence, key actors involved, contents, means of communication, and incentive systems.

Learning Outcomes: 1. Analyse advanced issues and topics pertaining to sport media, such as media production, social media, and audience/consumer perceptions and experiences
2. Analyse and apply relevant social sciences theories and concepts in examining the nature and implications of sport media communication
3. Analyse and apply ideas from reputable academic (e.g., scholarly journals) and non-academic (e.g., third sector organisations) sources in examining sport media from historical and contemporary perspectives
4. Articulate advanced issues, theories, principles, and perspectives relevant to sport-media research projects to intended audiences, such as academics and media professionals, using appropriate technologies
5. Strengthen, refine, and discuss informed opinions on sport media.

Content: Media and political economy (e.g., advertising models, broadcasting rights); influences on media production (e.g., regulation, public opinion, industry convergence); representation (e.g., in film, on television, online); sport and new media; sport and social media; mHealth and wearable technology; audience/consumer perceptions and experiences; principles and practices in sport journalism; future trends in sport media (e.g., Artificial Intelligence, machine learning).
