Aims: To perform an individual research project, including data collection, analysis, interpretation and dissemination in order to assess an original hypothesis or research question.

Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:
* Demonstrate specialist knowledge and critical awareness of current problems in order to provide new insights in their chosen area of sport and exercise science
* Plan data collection, collect data and appropriately analyse it
* Synthesise research data and disseminate research findings on oral and written format
* Defend their project work in a viva-voce examination.

Content:
* Collection of project data
* Presentation of research project in written and oral formats
* Production of a final report including an abstract, introduction and review, methods, results, discussion, references and appendices sections. The report should contain evidence of (a) originality in the application of knowledge and skills acquired during the course and (b) further study of current research positions in the field of the project.
