Description: Aims:
This unit introduces management science models and tools relevant to managers at different levels of an organisation. The emphasis is on business application of these models and tools. There is some focus on the building, analysis, and interpretation of models which represent different types of problems faced by managers, with an aim to evaluate the effectiveness of these models and to communicate strengths and weaknesses with stakeholders.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this unit, participants will be able to...
* evaluate the effectiveness of various tools and/or models in terms of their applicability to different problems.
* evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of various management science tools.
* effectively use tools and/or models to approach business problems.
* communicate results obtained through tools and/or models effectively to stakeholders.

Content:
The unit will look at a number of problems common to management systems. Thus, topics may include different approaches to inventory systems, quantitative marketing, queueing theory, systems dynamics, and scheduling and transportation problems.
