To support our Athena Swan commitments the University has:
- set up and regularly ran Athena Swan blog for sharing best practice with colleagues and external audiences.
- launched an Athena Swan Anniversary stories project, highlighting 10 monthly themes during 2019 to celebrate the University’s 10 year Athena Swan anniversary. The project received 2,000+ unique clicks and USAT was approached by Advance HE for permission to re-publish it on Advance HE webpages.
- organized flagship Athena Swan Annual Lectures 2018-2021, with high profile diverse speakers such as a female astronaut.
- revamped central Athena Swan webpages, systemising all successful submissions, created an Athena Swan Resource Hub with numerous resources and tools including checklist, top tips, suggested timelines, internal data collection sheets, departmental Athena Swan survey template and external documents.
- invited members of Athena Swan Network to USAT to present on various topics, such as showcasing the results from family-friendly departmental surveys.
- participated and led on South West Athena Swan regional meetings.
- attended Athena Swan assessment panels, organizing mock panels with, and acted as a critical friend to the University of Bristol.
- Aiste Zubiniene, has been appointed as an accredited Athena Swan Reviewer for Advance HE after a very competitive process.
- contributed to a best-practice guide to developing inclusive conferences and events by the University of Oxford.
- shared good practice around gender equality with colleagues of University of Richmond, Virginia, USA.
