The church is a young community, founded in 1980. Orthodox Christians come from a wide variety of national backgrounds, including English, Cypriot, Greek, Romanian, Polish and Russian. Worship is in English, and emphasises a traditional Orthodox liturgical experience with an openness to other traditions.
The parish runs weekly study groups, has a prison ministry group and various social events. Hospitality is particularly emphasised and there is always a meal after the Liturgy on Sunday.
