International Baccalaureate
Typical offer

International Baccalaureate Diploma
36 points overall and 7, 6, 6 in three Higher Level subjects including Physics and either HL Mathematics.
We require Mathematics at Higher Level and have a preference for Physics at Higher Level. If you are studying Physics we may be able to consider you. In this case the typical offer is 36 points overall and 6, 6, 6 or 7, 6, 5 in three Higher Level subjects including 6 in either HL Mathematics plus 7 in the Standard Level Physics.
International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme
We consider applicants studying the IBCP on a case-by-case basis based on the individual components studied. To be considered for this course you will need to study either Mathematics course at Higher Level and Physics at Standard Level or Higher Level alongside vocational study. Your IB Higher Level courses and vocational study must be equivalent to at least three A levels. This vocational study can be any qualification we accept, such as a BTEC National Diploma (RQF) or BTEC National Extended Certificates (RQF).

Pearson Edexcel BTEC
Typical offer
Unfortunately BTEC Level 3 Extended Diplomas (QCF) and BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (RQF) are not a suitable route for this course.

Scottish Highers
Typical offer
AA in Advanced Highers
AA in two Advanced Highers including Mathematics and Physics.
We make offers based on Advanced Highers. You will typically be expected to have completed five Scottish Highers and your grades in these will be considered as part of your application. We prefer applicants who have achieved AAAAA in their Highers.
Access to HE Diploma
Typical offer
Unfortunately, the Access to HE Diploma is not a suitable route for this course. You may wish to consider our BSc Physics or Physics with Astrophysics degrees.
Combinations of qualifications
Typical offer
Your application will be considered individually based on the particular combination of qualifications and subjects that you are taking.
We can consider combinations of accepted qualifications, of which some common examples are:
- A*A in A level Mathematics and Physics plus grade D in the BTEC National Extended Certificate (RQF) or Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate (RQF)
- A*A in A level Mathematics and Physics plus D3 in a Pre-U Principal Subject
- A*A in A level Mathematics and Physics plus A in the LIBF Level 3 Diploma in Financial Studies (DipFS)
We can also consider combinations that are not listed and that do not include A levels. You should read the information about essential and preferred subjects and subject combinations. We cannot consider different qualifications if they are in the same subject area.
