Who can be a sponsor
A sponsor could be an employer, a commercial organisation or a government body; a sponsor is not a friend or relative who has agreed to pay your tuition fee.
All organisations must be background checked and approved by the University before they can be registered as a student’s sponsor.
Checking your sponsor has been registered successfully during registration
If a sponsor is approved and their sponsorship agreement linked to your student, the sponsorship information will show under the 'Fees and Payments' section of online registration and you can continue with registration.
If your sponsorship isn't shown under the 'Fees and Payments' section, you should contact the Student Finance Office at stu-fin@bath.ac.uk explaining your situation.
Government sponsors
If a government body has agreed to sponsor a student, the organisation should prepare a letter of sponsorship and email it to the Student Finance Office at stu-fin@bath.ac.uk. The letter of sponsorship should contain:
- the student’s full name and student number
- the amount or percentage and period or duration of their sponsorship funding
- the sponsor's address, website, email address and contact telephone number
- the sponsor's company registration number, (VAT number for UK sponsors)
All other sponsors
All other qualifying organisations who have agreed to sponsor a student should complete the Sponsor Agreement Letter.
The completed form should be submitted to your course contact or the Student Finance Office at stu-fin@bath.ac.uk.
Sponsor payments
Following the registration period, approved sponsors will be sent an invoice for the student's fees.
Sponsors will be invoiced for their full sponsorship, which is payable in one instalment.
The student is responsible for ensuring their tuition fees are paid. Failure to make payment by the sponsor will result in the fees being transferred directly to the student to pay in full.
