We offer a programme of professional development sessions designed to support inclusive practice, respectful working relationships, and confident responses to harassment, discrimination and exclusion across the University.
These optional sessions complement the University's wider equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) commitments. They draw on current good practice in allyship, bystander intervention, inclusive communication, accessibility and inclusive leadership.
This page explains the training we currently offer, the choice of the delivery formats available, and how to request a session for your team, department or away day.
Whether you are looking for a short session to spark a conversation in an existing meeting, a longer interactive workshop, or a fully bespoke session shaped around local priorities, our Staff Training Officer can help.
If you have a specific theme in mind not shown below, please get in touch by emailing mm4136@bath.ac.uk. We are experienced in co-creating bespoke sessions for teams across the University.

Training formats
We offer four main delivery formats to fit the time, audience and purpose for the session:
- Bespoke (flexible length): A session shaped around your team, department, away day or local priorities.
- Lightning learning (20–30 minutes): Concise, practical input that can fit within an existing meeting or event.
- Workshop (60–90 minutes): Interactive, scenario-based learning with discussion and take-away actions.
- Game-style bystander format (60–90 minutes): A more participatory approach to bystander intervention.
Training can be delivered in person or online. Mixed offers are possible - for example, combining a short briefing with a longer facilitated session. Bespoke sessions can draw on the listed topics or be developed collaboratively for a specific team need.
How to request training
- Complete the staff training request form.
- A member of the team will acknowledge your request within two working days, except during annual leave.
- Arrange a short scoping conversation with the Staff Training Officer so the session can be shaped around your audience, context and goals.
Lead time: Please allow six to eight weeks between making a request and delivery of the session where possible.
To start the process complete the staff training request form.
Accessibility pledge
We want colleagues to be able to participate fully in staff training. Our training is designed to align with the principles of the University’s Universal Anticipatory Adjustments (Level 1). We will apply the same approach to staff training so that most access needs are met in advance, without colleagues needing to disclose a disability.
If you or members of your group need any additional adjustments, please tell us when you make your request or during the scoping conversation.
We will:
- ask about access requirements in advance where possible.
- provide live captions for online delivery.
- provide slides or key materials at least 24 hours before the session, and earlier where possible.
- provide screen-reader-friendly materials.
- use low-stimulus slide design where appropriate.
- discuss quiet space or low-sensory arrangements for in-person delivery.
- explore BSL interpretation or other adjustments with appropriate notice (please request at least four weeks in advance - earlier where possible).
- use microphones for in-person sessions where provided.
