Are you looking to develop your digital skills and support staff in developing online learning materials? We are growing a team of instructional designers and instructional design advisors to help our teaching staff develop materials and approaches as we move to increased online teaching.

We will train you in appropriate technologies to support teaching and assessment of students at the University of Bath and will be working with academic staff to provide pedagogic and practical advice on the use of these technologies.

The positions are initially offered for 6 months, but some will be extended to 12 months and potentially beyond. We are intending to develop online teaching resources and approaches that we can continue to use after the COVID crisis has passed, and we would love you to be part of that journey.

The Instructional Designer role (Grade 6) will be more suitable for:

  • Applicants with good digital skills
  • Existing staff with some experience in supporting staff in learning and teaching at the University
  • Staff looking for either a new opportunity or a temporary secondment.

The Instructional Design Advisor role (Grade 5) will be more suitable for:

  • Applicants with good digital skills
  • Graduates with a good knowledge of the learning environment at the University of Bath, including those graduating in 2020.
  • Staff looking for either a new opportunity or a temporary secondment.

This role will be mainly remote (home) working and we are happy to consider requests for part-time and flexible working. While not all preferences will necessarily be accommodated, as part of your application could you please indicate whether you would prefer to work in one or more of the following:

  • Faculty of Engineering and Design
  • Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Faculty of Science
  • School of Management
  • Skills Centre

We truly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and backgrounds will lead to a better environment for our employees and students, so we encourage applications from all genders, backgrounds, and communities, particularly from under-represented groups including Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) and those with disabilities, and value the positive impact that will have on our teams.

We have made a positive commitment towards gender equality and intersectionality receiving a Bronze Athena SWAN award, and we are actively working towards a Silver award. We are a family-friendly University, with an increasingly agile workforce, we are open to flexible working arrangements. We’re also proud to be a disability confident employer and are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments you may require.

Please indicate on your application which role you are applying for and contact the technology enhanced learning team (tel@bath.ac.uk) with any queries.
