Professor of Strategy & Organisation
The Strategy and Organization Division in the School of Management is seeking to appoint a Professor to its centre of excellence at the intersection of entrepreneurship, innovation and strategy.
About the role:
We are seeking candidates who excel in research, teaching and leadership roles, who are actively applying for research grant funding, and who will contribute to both the vibrant research culture and to knowledge exchange. You will join the Strategy, Entrepreneurship and Innovation centre of excellence and be involved with developing the Centre for Research in Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CREI).
You will be interested in engaging with any aspect of the intersection between strategy, entrepreneurship and innovation, and we are particularly interested in colleagues who can bring new ways of thinking about strategy, value creation and future making. We seek people who are equally passionate about teaching and research and who desire to influence practice.
About you:
We are particularly interested in applications from people with professorial-level experience in Strategy, but are also keen to hear from people with expertise in the wider aspects of entrepreneurship and innovation.
You will have established a trajectory of publishing in internationally leading journals and, ideally, a track record of applying for research grant funding. You will have experience both of supervising doctoral students to completion and of successfully carrying out leadership roles. The Division is a vibrant and collegial academic community of almost 50 members of staff and you will want to play a full role in the Division’s thriving and ambitious culture. The team is not only high-achieving but highly supportive. Colleagues are active contributors to the academic community through editing journals, taking up leadership positions in professional bodies, organising workshops and conferences. One of the top priorities of the Division is supporting and mentoring new and/or rising academics; a major role of all our professors is participating in supporting the development of new and mid-career researchers.
Informal enquiries may be made to Professor Nancy Harding, Head of Strategy and Organisation Division: (hnh25@bath.ac.uk) or Professor Dimo Dimov (dpd24@bath.ac.uk) however please ensure that you submit your application via the University website.
About us:
The School of Management is located in an impressive new building with innovative resources near the city of Bath. It is consistently ranked within the UK’s top ten and the world’s global top 100 business schools. In the most recent national assessment of research, REF 2021, 91% of its submissions were judged to be ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’. This placed the School 7th out of 108 in the UK for business and management studies. Knowledge from our research informs our teaching, and we are proud of how this helped us gain the award of TEF Gold status in the Government’s Teaching Excellence Framework. The School has gained Athena Swan bronze status and is actively challenging limitations placed on academic careers by any forms of bias.
We provide a highly successful portfolio of teaching programmes including undergraduate, masters, MBA and PhD. We aim to build on these successes, and part of this strategy involves expanding our group of colleagues working to advance the broader university vision to develop future strategists and innovators and make a positive impact through research and enterprise.
