Director (Marketing & Brand)

Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for marketing and brand development? Do you thrive in an environment where creativity meets strategy and innovation is encouraged? If so, we have an opportunity for you to make an impact as our Director (Marketing & Brand). You will lead talented teams of professionals and help shape the University's marketing plans and brand strategy, collaborating with colleagues across the organisation. 

The University of Bath has built an excellent domestic reputation, ranked in the top 5 or 10 in the major UK university league tables, and awarded a triple Gold in the 2023 Teaching Excellence Framework. As we look to the future, we have ambitious plans to increase our global presence, attracting talented students and staff to contribute to our excellence in education, research, and innovation. As our Director (Marketing & Brand), you will be leading core plans to enhance our reach and reputation. Your strategic vision and creative thinking will drive the development and implementation of innovative marketing campaigns that elevate our brand to new heights. From crafting compelling narratives to leveraging digital platforms, you will lead a talented team across student marketing, content, digital, creative services, and business insights, to highlight the University’s strengths, values, and impact.

The post-holder reports to the Vice-President (External Relations).

About You:

  • a marketing professional with a strong track record of delivery in large, complex organisations
  • passionate about higher education and its contribution to the global common good through education and research
  • a natural relationship builder, influencer, and leader who is used to collaborating closely with colleagues to successfully deliver plans
  • expert in leading marketing plans from research to execution and evaluation
  • dedicated to understanding audiences through market research and building actionable insights to inform decisions
  • enthusiastic about the galvanising power of brand to benefit organisations and their stakeholders
  • a skilled people leader, with a coaching approach and the ability to nurture talent.
