Armed forces personnel spouses and partners The spouses and partners of service personnel will be granted requests for annual leave before, during and after a partner’s deployment and will have enhanced flexibility in making these requests.

This flexibility is to take account of the possibility of service personnel receiving very short notice of their deployment.

Non-regular forces

Staff who are volunteer members of Non-Regular Forces (e.g. Territorial Army) who attend summer camp will normally be granted ten working days paid leave per year in addition to their normal annual leave entitlement. Territorial Army members have special employment protection if called up.

Staff should advise their line manager and Human Resources before first entering into such commitments and discuss the extent of the commitment and the implications for their work. Evidence of membership will need to be provided. Paid leave of absence should be approved and recorded in the usual way.

Cadet organisations

Staff who are volunteer leaders in military cadet organisations will be granted additional leave to attend annual training camps and courses, in addition to their normal annual leave entitlement.

Staff should advise their line manager and Human Resources before first entering into such commitments and discuss the extent of the commitment and the implications for their work. Evidence of membership will need to be provided. Paid leave of absence should be approved and recorded in the usual way.
