Don McLaverty Appointed by Council

Will undertake the responsibilities of members of governing bodies as set out in the CUC Guide for Members of Higher Education Governing Bodies in the UK.

Career

Don Mclaverty has been an advisor to a portfolio of clients including high-growth SMEs and scale-up firms, which often have technology as a differentiator. Recent engagements include Innovate UK, UKAEA, the Goldman Sachs 10K Programme and Coracle Online Limited.

Previously, Don was Managing Director of Oxford Innovation Services where he was the Regional Director of GrowthAccelerator, a UK Government business advisory programme supporting growth businesses across the South of England. He was also responsible for the regional delivery of the Enterprise Europe Network and was the Managing Director of Oxford Innovation’s three Business Angel Networks.

Don was appointed to the Council of the University of Bath in 2020 where he also sits on the Finance Committee, University Commercialisation Executive (Spinout) Board and the Vice Chancellors Ethics committee. Formerly, Don was a Trustee of the Royal Society for the encourage of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) and Chair of the twenty-nine strong Fellowship Council.

Don is a Mathematics graduate and he has an MBA from London Business School.
