Sharon Flood Chair of Council
The Chair is responsible for leadership of the Council as the governing body of the institution and ultimately to its stakeholders for its effectiveness.
Role
Sharon Flood was appointed Chair of the University’s governing body from 1 November 2025 for an initial term of three years.
Career
Sharon brings with her extensive non-executive experience across the commercial, not for profit and public sectors including as Chair of the Audit & Risk and Treasury Committees for Network Rail and Trustee and Chair of Finance for the Science Museum Group. Sharon’s governance experience builds on a successful executive career in Finance and Strategy, including as Finance Director of John Lewis Department stores and as an operating partner for Sun European.
As a graduate of the University of Bath, Sharon knows the institution well. She has been actively involved in Bath’s alumni network and a supporter of the Gold Scholarship Programme. In addition, Sharon has six years of experience as an external Trustee of the University of Cambridge, giving her insight into the opportunities and challenges facing the Higher Education sector today.

- the Nominations Committee as Chair
- the People and Culture Committee
- the Remuneration Committee, ex officio
