Jimena Alamo Student Governor

Will undertake the responsibilities of members of governing bodies as set out in the CUC Guide for Members of Higher Education Governing Bodies in the UK.

Career

Jimena Alamo was born in Caracas, Venezuela and was educated in Colegio Integral el Avila in Caracas. She graduated with a BSc Hons in Politics and International Relations at Bath in 2023.

Jimena has worked as a research assistant for a PhD candidate in Oxford, led the network of volunteers for a non-governmental organisation in Venezuala, and has completed a series of internships in different non-governmental organisations during her time at university.

She is undergoing her second term as the Students' Union (SU) President (for both the 2023/24 and 2024/25 academic years) and is also the Chair of the Board of Trustees during her time in office. She has held the following roles during her time as a student: Hall representative, for which she was shortlisted for the SU Changemakers award in 2021; peer mentor during 2021/22; social secretary for the Latin American Society in 2021/22 and its Chair during 2022/23.
