Project overview

The Local Health and Global Profits project aims to identify, implement and evaluate population-level actions most likely to improve health, wellbeing and equity at local authority level by addressing the commercial determinants of health (CDoH), defined as ‘the systems, practices, and pathways through which commercial actors drive health and equity’.

The LHGP research consortium brings together leading researchers from the universities of Bath, Cambridge, Edinburgh, and Sheffield, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. It is part of the Population Health Improvement (PHIUK) network and is funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).

The LHGP works with local governments, local populations, public health practitioners, and civil society organisations across the UK including the Association of Directors of Public Health, Action on Smoking and Health, Obesity Health Alliance, Alcohol Health Alliance, and Centre for Thriving Places.
