How to apply for a temporary teaching exemption (TTE) within your timetable in the academic year 2026/27

For full time or part-time member of academic staff wanting to request an exemption from teaching for specific times in the teaching week for the 2026/27 timetable - please complete the TTE - Form 1 below and email this to your Head of Department by 4pm on Tuesday 24 February 2026. You should receive confirmation from your Head of Department on whether your request was accepted by early to mid-May 2026.

The University recognises the important contribution of these TTE arrangements to help academic staff to manage temporary requirements, such as short-term health or care matters, while meeting their teaching commitments.

For part-time academic staff with a defined part-time hours contract (or pro-rata hours worked regularly) wanting to ensure that teaching hours are only scheduled in your defined hours, - please complete TTE - Form 2 below and email this to your Head of Department by 4pm on Tuesday 24 February 2026. Without submitting this form you may be scheduled for teaching at any point across the 55 teaching hours across each week.
