Support after graduation

Using our services after graduation

If you are job-hunting, still unsure of what you want from a career or thinking of taking some time out, you may be interested to know that our one-to-one guidance services and our information services are available to you indefinitely after graduation.

If you are an MBA graduate, please contact the MBA Career Development Service to ask about graduate services.

Information services

You are welcome to use the Information Room in our city-centre premises at any time during opening hours for research or collection of take-away information. You don't need to make an appointment, but please check that we are open before you travel.

Information staff can help you find the materials you need and answer quick queries. No appointment is necessary. An online catalogue of our major information resources is available.

As well as using the graduate pages (where you're currently looking) we encourage you to look around the student pages of our website, which include advice on career choice, job-hunting, selection processes and links to many relevant sites.
Nearly all material is open-access and we can email copies of our in-house publications where these have restricted online access.

You can use your own device with wifi at our premises, but we cannot give you access to a Univerity PC once your Computing Services login expires, and we are unable to give you access to certain resources (such as streamed DVDs) which are provided under licence.

For vacancies targeted at Bath graduates, you can still use MyFuture - see more details on the Vacancy sources page.

Psychometric assessments

As a University of Bath graduate you can use:

  • Graduates First. This includes reasoning tests, personality and situational judgement questionnaires, and assessment centre exercises. For further details and access see the test preparation page.
Note that you must have an @bath.edu email address to access this package - you can find out how to request an account if you don't already have one.
  • Team Focus software. This includes practice numerical, verbal and abstract reasoning tests as well as three assessments designed to help you establish your learning style, personality type and values determining motivation at work. To receive more information, including how to access the tests, please email us.

More information on psychometric assessments can be found on our student pages.

One-to-one support

Guidance appointments

A careers adviser will see you for a confidential consultation on any career-related matter. An appointment lasts 45 minutes, and booking in advance is essential.

  • If you can't make it to see a careers adviser at our premises, we can offer you a telephone or Skype appointment.
  • We will accommodate you as soon as possible but please bear in mind that during the autumn term current students will take priority.
  • Please ring in advance for face-to-face, telephone and Skype appointments on 01225 386009.

Quick queries

If you can make it to our premises, you could use the quick query sessions. These offer shorter discussions and are ideal for fact-finding about how to get started, or CV feedback - follow the link to see when the sessions are available. You'll need to book an appointment on the same day, by logging into MyFuture.

Bath Connection - network with Bath graduates

Bath Connection is a secure online system which allows you to network with our Alumni Experts. They are Bath graduates who have volunteered to talk to fellow Bath graduates for careers support - it's a really great way to get some extra insight from someone who has ‘been there already’.
