Sir Jack Cater Scholarship

This scholarship is open to graduates of nominated Hong Kong universities who hold an offer to study a master's course with us.

If you're a graduate of nominated Hong Kong universities, and an international fee-paying offer-holder, you may be eligible for this scholarship.


About the award

Sir Jack Cater was awarded an Honorary Degree from the University of Bath in 1995.

He was the founding head of Hong Kong's Independent Commission Against Corruption, and went on to become Hong Kong's Chief Secretary, Acting Governor and Commissioner in London.

This scholarship is awarded on behalf of his family and the Parthenon Trust to students of nominated Hong Kong universities.

Funding available

1 x £3,000 scholarship is available for full-time, postgraduate taught master's courses across the Faculty of Engineering & Design, Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences, Faculty of Science and School of Management*.

The award will be applied as a discount on your tuition fees.


Eligibility criteria

Find out if you're eligible for this award.


You can apply for this scholarship if you are a graduate of Hong Kong University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) or Hong Kong Baptist University and:

  • have a confirmed offer to study a full-time taught postgraduate master's course at the University of Bath for 2024
  • have firmly accepted your conditional or unconditional offer
