SOFA
Stories Online For Autism (SOFA) is co-developed with the autism community to help develop social stories for autistic children and young people.
It's designed to support parents, carers, guardians, and educators to create, adapt, and share stories tailored to the needs of the individual child or young person.
It includes a mode for writing and editing stories, adding images, creating child profiles, and assigning stories to specific users. It also includes a child mode, where children can access only the stories assigned to them, either independently, with adult support, or through app narration.
In addition, the app aims to help adults track progress towards goals linked to the stories being used. It also offers a library of editable pre-written stories, while allowing users to create private or public stories of their own.
MY SOFA
MY SOFA (Stories Online For Autism) is developed in partnership with autistic adults to provide a more person-centred and neuroaffirming approach to story and goal development.
The app is designed to support autistic adults to create their own stories, based on their priorities, experiences, and self-identified goals.
Rather than relying on others to write stories, MY SOFA places authorship and choice in the hands of the individual. In this way, it supports greater ownership, reflection, and autonomy throughout the process.
It's intended to help users break down goals into meaningful and achievable steps, while also using personalised stories to support planning, understanding, and motivation.
MY SOFA aims to help autistic adults work towards goals that matter to them, in ways that respect their voice, preferences, and lived experience. It reflects a collaborative design process grounded in accessibility and self-determination.
MY SOFA will launch soon.
