Survey results

Thank you for completing the recent Work and Wellbeing survey. These are the results of the core questions in the Work and Wellbeing Survey run in March 2024. The report outlines the headline results. The response rate for the survey was 819 (21%).

Summary

Carried out between 12 and 26 March 2024, this survey was light touch survey comprising of only the core questions, to allow previous survey results to be considered and acted upon. The response rate of 21% was the lowest to date, possibly due to the nature of the survey (core only), an element of survey fatigue or a reflection that staff do not feel they are being listened to.

The profile of respondents reverted to previous with a higher proportion of women and MSA staff participating. Less E&R staff took part after the all time high in November. As well as seasonal factors, this profile will have affected the results which have tended to be more positive than the previous survey.

  • In the latest survey (March 2024), ONS4 wellbeing indicators saw some improvement, compared to the previous survey (November 2023).

  • Life satisfaction was higher and anxiety levels were lower than the previous survey, but not significantly different from other survey timepoints.

  • Higher scores on life satisfaction and lower levels of anxiety reported may be due to seasonal factors, but may also be due to the different make up of the sample, with a much lower proportion of the E & R job family responding in comparison to the November survey. These results are more in line with the trends from previous surveys, where E & R job family response was similarly low.
